Description

A flavorful and easy-to-make shrimp cocktail dip that combines creamy cream cheese, zesty cocktail sauce, and seasoned shrimp, perfect for parties and gatherings.

Ingredients

Scale

Main Ingredients

  • 1/2 pound cooked shrimp peeled, deveined, thawed & roughly chopped
  • 8 ounces cream cheese softened
  • 1 small bunch green onions thinly sliced
  • 1 tsp Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 cup cocktail sauce
  • 1 tbsp Old Bay seasoning

Instructions

  1. Season the shrimp: Add the chopped shrimp and Old Bay seasoning to a mixing bowl. Toss them together until evenly combined and the shrimp is well coated.
  2. Prepare the cream cheese mixture: In a separate mixing bowl, add the softened cream cheese, 3/4 of the sliced green onions, and Worcestershire sauce. Use a hand mixer to whip the mixture until smooth and creamy.
  3. Spread cream cheese layer: Evenly spread the cream cheese mixture into a shallow serving dish or platter.
  4. Add cocktail sauce layer: Spread the cocktail sauce on top of the cream cheese mixture into an even layer.
  5. Top with shrimp: Evenly spread the seasoned shrimp over the cocktail sauce layer.
  6. Garnish: Sprinkle the remaining sliced green onions evenly over the top of the dip.
  7. Serve and enjoy: Serve the dip with your favorite dipping options like crackers, chips, or vegetable sticks and enjoy.

Notes

  • For easier preparation, toss shrimp with seasoning, mix with cocktail sauce, then spread over the cream cheese layer.
  • Although typically served cold, you can warm this dip briefly in the oven to take the chill off if preferred.
  • Fresh or frozen cooked shrimp are ideal, but canned tiny shrimp can be used—no chopping required, just drain well.
  • Add horseradish or Tabasco sauce to the cocktail sauce for a spicy kick.
