Description

These Easy Pumpkin Pie Twists are a delightful fall treat featuring flaky crescent roll dough filled with a spiced pumpkin mixture. Perfect as a sweet snack or dessert, they are simple to prepare and bake to golden perfection, with a cinnamon sugar glaze and an optional whipped cream dip.

Ingredients

Scale

Dough and Filling

  • 1 tube refrigerated crescent roll dough
  • 1/2 cup pumpkin puree
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar
  • 1 tablespoon maple syrup
  • 1 teaspoon pumpkin spice

Topping

  • 2 tablespoons melted butter
  • 1 tablespoon sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
  • Whipped cream for dipping, optional

Instructions

  1. Preheat Oven: Preheat the oven to 375 degrees Fahrenheit and line a baking sheet with parchment paper to prevent sticking.
  2. Prepare Pumpkin Mixture: In a small bowl, combine pumpkin puree, brown sugar, maple syrup, and pumpkin spice thoroughly.
  3. Prepare Dough: Unroll the crescent roll dough onto a cutting board and cut it in half to create two identical rectangles placed side by side.
  4. Assemble Layers: Spread the pumpkin mixture evenly over one rectangle of dough, then place the second rectangle on top, aligning all edges carefully to sandwich the filling.
  5. Cut Strips: Use a pizza cutter to slice the layered dough into strips about 3/4 inch wide.
  6. Twist Strips: Transfer the strips to the prepared baking sheet and twist each by holding one end and twisting twice, then the other end for another two to three twists.
  7. Add Topping: Brush each twist generously with melted butter, then mix sugar and cinnamon in a small bowl and sprinkle evenly over the twists.
  8. Bake: Bake in the preheated oven for 11 minutes or until the twists are golden brown and cooked through.
  9. Serve: Remove from oven and allow to cool slightly. Serve with whipped cream for dipping, if desired.

Notes

  • Use canned pumpkin puree for convenience, but fresh pumpkin can be cooked and pureed as an alternative.
  • Adjust the amount of pumpkin spice to your taste preference.
  • Ensure the dough rectangles are aligned well to prevent filling leakage.
  • Use parchment paper to prevent sticking and ease cleanup.
  • Serve warm for best flavor and texture.
  • These twists can be stored in an airtight container and reheated in the oven for a few minutes before serving.
