Description

Delicious pumpkin crescent roll dumplings featuring a sweet pumpkin puree and cream cheese filling, topped with a spiced brown sugar crumble and baked to golden perfection. A perfect fall-inspired dessert or snack that’s easy to prepare and sure to delight.

Ingredients

Scale

Dumpling Filling

  • 1/2 cup pumpkin puree
  • 2 oz cream cheese

Dough and Topping

  • 1 (8 oz) can refrigerated crescent rolls
  • 1/3 cup butter
  • 1/2 cup light brown sugar
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons pumpkin pie spice
  • 3 tablespoons apple juice

Instructions

  1. Preheat and prepare dish: Preheat your oven to 350°F and grease an 8-inch square baking dish with nonstick spray. Set aside.
  2. Make brown sugar crumble: In a small bowl, combine the brown sugar and pumpkin pie spice. Cut in the butter using a fork or pastry cutter until the mixture is crumbly. Set aside this crumbly topping.
  3. Fill crescent rolls: Separate the crescent roll dough into 8 triangles. On the widest end of each triangle, place 1 tablespoon of pumpkin puree, 1 tablespoon of the brown sugar and spice mixture, and a piece of cream cheese.
  4. Roll dumplings: Roll each crescent dough triangle up, starting from the wide end and folding the smaller end underneath to secure the filling. Place the rolled dumplings seam-side down in the prepared baking dish.
  5. Add topping and apple juice: Sprinkle the remaining brown sugar crumble mixture evenly over the dumplings in the dish. Pour the apple juice over the top to create moisture and help the topping caramelize.
  6. Bake: Bake in the preheated oven for 30 minutes or until the crescent rolls turn golden brown and cooked through.
  7. Cool and serve: Allow the dumplings to cool for 10 minutes before serving to let the filling set slightly. Enjoy your pumpkin crescent roll dumplings warm.

Notes

  • Use refrigerated crescent rolls for convenience and perfect flaky dough.
  • For a stronger pumpkin flavor, add a pinch more pumpkin pie spice or a drop of vanilla extract to the filling.
  • Apple juice helps keep the dumplings moist during baking and adds a subtle fruity sweetness; substitute with apple cider or orange juice if preferred.
  • Serve with a drizzle of maple syrup or a dusting of powdered sugar for extra sweetness.
  • Make sure to tuck the ends underneath when rolling to prevent leakage during baking.
