Description

This easy Oreo Dump Cake recipe combines crushed Oreo cookies, instant chocolate pudding, and chocolate cake mix to create a rich, no-fuss dessert. With just five main ingredients and minimal prep, it’s perfect for quick gatherings or satisfying a chocolate craving.

Ingredients

Scale

Dessert Base

  • 24 Oreo cookies, roughly chopped
  • 1 box (3.9 oz) instant chocolate pudding mix
  • 2 cups cold milk

Cake Layer

  • 1 box (15.25 oz) chocolate cake mix
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted

Toppings

  • 1 cup whipped topping (such as Cool Whip)
  • 1/2 cup mini chocolate chips (optional)
  • Extra Oreo cookies for garnish (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat Oven and Prepare Pan: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Lightly grease a 9×13-inch baking dish to prevent sticking.
  2. Layer Oreos: Spread the roughly chopped Oreo cookies evenly over the bottom of the baking dish, creating a solid base.
  3. Make Pudding Mixture: In a medium bowl, whisk together the instant chocolate pudding mix and cold milk until thickened, which takes about 2 minutes. Pour this pudding mixture evenly over the Oreo layer.
  4. Add Cake Mix and Butter: Sprinkle the dry chocolate cake mix evenly over the pudding layer. Then drizzle the melted butter over the cake mix to moisten the top and help it bake to a crisp finish.
  5. Bake: Place the baking dish in the preheated oven and bake for 35 minutes, or until the top is set and slightly crisp. Once done, remove from oven and allow it to cool for 10 minutes.
  6. Add Toppings and Serve: Spread the whipped topping evenly over the warm cake. Optionally, sprinkle mini chocolate chips and extra Oreo cookies on top for garnish. Serve warm or at room temperature.

Notes

  • You can substitute milk with any plant-based milk for a dairy-free variation.
  • Using a quality chocolate cake mix enhances the rich chocolate flavor significantly.
  • For extra crunch, add chopped nuts on top along with whipped topping.
  • Letting the cake cool slightly before topping helps the whipped topping stay stable and prevents melting too quickly.
  • Store leftovers in the refrigerator covered for up to 3 days.
