Description

These Mustard Hasselback Kielbasa Bites are a delicious and easy appetizer featuring sliced kielbasa baked or air fried with a tangy mustard glaze and served with a creamy dipping sauce. Perfect for parties or game day snacking.

Ingredients

Scale

Kielbasa and Bites

  • 2 rings (13.9 ounces each) kielbasa

Mustard Sauce

  • ¼ cup (62 g) coarse ground Dijon mustard
  • 2 tablespoons apple cider vinegar
  • 2 tablespoons light brown sugar
  • 1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce

Dipping Sauce

  • 2 tablespoons mayonnaise
  • Parsley, chopped for garnish

Instructions

  1. Slice Kielbasa: Place the kielbasa between two chopsticks or skewers to prevent cutting all the way through and slice into ¼-inch slices down to but not through the chopsticks.
  2. Cut Bites: Slice the partially sliced kielbasa crosswise into 1-inch bite-sized pieces, about 3 rings per piece, totaling approximately 40 bites for both rings. Place bites into a large bowl or baking sheet.
  3. Prepare Mustard Mixture: In a small bowl, combine Dijon mustard, apple cider vinegar, brown sugar, and Worcestershire sauce, then divide into two bowls.
  4. Make Dipping Sauce: Add mayonnaise to one bowl of mustard mixture, stir well, cover, and refrigerate while preparing the bites.
  5. Coat Kielbasa Bites: Pour or brush half of the second bowl of mustard sauce over the kielbasa bites, making sure to get sauce between each cut section. Reserve remaining sauce for after cooking.
  6. Air Fry Bites: Arrange the kielbasa bites in a single layer in the air fryer basket, working in batches if necessary. Air fry at 400°F for 9 minutes, shaking the basket halfway through.
  7. Finish and Serve: Remove bites from air fryer, place on a serving platter, and brush with the reserved mustard sauce. Garnish with chopped parsley and serve warm alongside the refrigerated mayonnaise-based dipping sauce.

Notes

  • If you don’t have an air fryer, preheat the oven to 425°F and line a sheet pan with parchment paper. Bake the prepared bites for 20 minutes or until browned, brushing with mustard sauce before baking.
  • Use coarse ground Dijon mustard for texture and flavor, but smooth Dijon mustard can be substituted if needed.
  • Make sure not to slice all the way through the kielbasa to maintain the Hasselback effect, allowing sauce to seep into cuts.
  • Store leftover dipping sauce refrigerated for up to 3 days.
