Main Ingredients
- 1 package Red velvet Oreos (22 cookies)
- 4 oz cream cheese
- 7 oz green candy melts
- Red heart sprinkles
Instructions
- Prepare Baking Sheet: Line a large baking sheet with parchment paper and set aside to prevent sticking and facilitate easy cleanup.
- Make Oreo Dough: In a food processor, pulse the Red Velvet Oreos until fine crumbs form. Add the cream cheese and mix again until a soft dough forms, combining the flavors thoroughly.
- Form Truffle Balls: Using a 1 tablespoon measuring spoon, scoop out the dough, then roll each portion between the palms of your hands to form balls. Place each on the prepared baking sheet. Repeat until all dough is used, then chill the balls in the freezer for 30 minutes to firm up.
- Melt Candy Coating: In a microwave-safe bowl, melt the green candy melts in 30-second increments, stirring between each, until smooth. If the candy melts are too thick for dipping, add 1/2 teaspoon of coconut oil or a neutral-flavored oil and mix well to thin.
- Dip and Decorate: Using a chocolate dipping fork, dip each chilled truffle ball into the melted candy until fully coated. Place dipped balls onto the baking sheet. Once all are coated, drizzle leftover candy melts from a piping bag over the tops and add red heart sprinkles to create the Grinch’s signature heart detail.
- Set and Serve: Allow the coated truffles to set in the refrigerator for a few minutes until firm. Enjoy your festive Grinch Oreo Balls!
Notes
- If you do not have a food processor, you can crush the Oreos in a sealed plastic bag using a rolling pin.
- For easier rolling, slightly chill the dough before forming balls.
- Use a toothpick or skewer if you do not have a chocolate dipping fork for coating the truffles.
- An alternative to coconut oil for thinning candy melts can be vegetable oil or canola oil.
- Store the balls in an airtight container in the refrigerator to keep them fresh for up to a week.
