Description

A delightful Cherry Earl Grey Milk Tea blending the fragrant notes of Earl Grey with fresh cherry sweetness and creamy milk, perfect for a cozy hot drink or a refreshing iced treat.

Ingredients

Scale

Tea Base

  • 1 Earl Grey tea bag (or 1 tsp loose leaf Earl Grey tea)
  • 1 cup water
  • 1 cinnamon stick (optional)

Cherry Milk Mixture

  • 4-5 fresh cherries (pitted and halved)
  • 2 tablespoons water (for simmering cherries)
  • 1/2 cup milk (any type: dairy, almond, oat, etc.)
  • 1-2 tsp vanilla syrup (adjust to taste)
  • Ice (optional for iced version)

Instructions

  1. Simmer Cherries: In a small saucepan, add the fresh cherries and about 2 tablespoons of water. Simmer on low heat for 5 minutes until the cherries soften and release their juices. Gently mash the cherries to enhance the flavor extraction.
  2. Brew Tea: While the cherries simmer, bring 1 cup of water to a boil. Steep the Earl Grey tea bag or loose leaf tea in the hot water for 5 minutes depending on desired strength. Remove the tea bag or strain the leaves.
  3. Heat Milk Mixture: Pour the milk into the saucepan with the softened cherries and heat gently, stirring occasionally until warmed through. Add the optional cinnamon stick to infuse a subtle spice.
  4. Add Sweetener: Stir in 1-2 teaspoons of vanilla syrup to the warm milk and cherry mixture. Adjust sweetness according to preference.
  5. Combine and Serve: Pour the brewed Earl Grey tea into a mug, then strain the warm milk and cherry mixture into the mug, pressing on cherries to release all flavor. Stir well to combine.
  6. Finish: For iced tea, allow the drink to cool slightly and serve over ice. For hot tea, serve immediately. Garnish with a fresh cherry or a sprinkle of cinnamon if desired.

Notes

  • Use dairy or plant-based milk to suit dietary preferences.
  • Vanilla syrup can be substituted with honey or maple syrup.
  • Adjust steeping time for stronger or milder tea flavor.
  • Fresh cherries are ideal, but frozen can be used if fresh are unavailable.
  • The cinnamon stick is optional but adds a lovely warm note to the drink.
  • For a vegan version, use plant-based milk and a vegan sweetener.
