Ingredients
Scale
Fritter
- 1 ½ cups all-purpose white flour
- 3 tablespoons white granulated sugar
- 2 teaspoons baking soda
- 1 tablespoon brown sugar
- ½ teaspoon salt
- 2 teaspoons ground cinnamon
- 1 teaspoon ground nutmeg
- ½ cup whole milk
- 1 ½ tablespoons lemon juice
- 2 large eggs, cold
- 2 Gala apples, diced
Glaze
- ½ cup powdered sugar
- 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
- ¼ cup whole milk
- ½ teaspoon cinnamon
Instructions
- Combine dry ingredients. Whisk together the flour, baking soda, white sugar, brown sugar, salt, cinnamon, and nutmeg in a medium-sized mixing bowl. Set aside.
- Combine wet ingredients. In a separate bowl, whisk together whole milk, lemon juice, and cold eggs until smooth.
- Mix together. Fold the dry ingredients into the wet ingredients carefully to avoid overmixing, which can cause tough, dense fritters.
- Add apples. Gently fold the diced Gala apples into the batter until evenly distributed.
- Prep air fryer basket. Line the air fryer basket with parchment paper. Using a ¼ cup measure, scoop dollops of fritter batter onto the parchment paper.
- Air fry fritters. Air fry the fritters at 400 degrees Fahrenheit for 7 minutes. Flip them carefully, then air fry for an additional 4 minutes until golden and cooked through.
- Make glaze. While fritters are cooking, whisk together powdered sugar, vanilla extract, whole milk, and cinnamon until smooth.
- Glaze fritters. As soon as fritters come out of the air fryer, spoon the glaze generously over them.
- Serve. Serve air fryer apple fritters warm or at room temperature for the best flavor and texture.
Notes
- Choose crunchy apples like Gala, Honeycrisp, or Granny Smith for the best texture and flavor in your fritters.
- Use whole milk in the glaze for a rich and smooth consistency; add powdered sugar in tablespoon increments if you desire a thicker glaze.
- To store, cool fritters to room temperature then seal in an airtight container. They keep at room temperature for up to 2 days or in the refrigerator for up to 1 week.
- Reheat fritters in 10-second microwave intervals or bake on parchment paper at 325 degrees Fahrenheit for 10 minutes until warmed through without drying out.
